Okay I know this a long shot but does anyone recognise any of these people? ;D ;D
I know for sure who one of them is so hopefully that's a good start. 8)
The first photo (maryannhayes1) with the two ladies, the lady on the left is my great grandmother who was called Mary Ann Hayes (nee. Reavy). She was born approx 1878. On April 2nd 1896 she married William Hayes and they went on to have 13 children from 1896 to 1917. Birth records of the children indicate they lived at many addresses like Check St, Rowan St and Adair street but from 1901 all address are various houses in Joseph St in Belfast. Ultimately her death record is at 66 Joseph St in 1956.
On the second photo (maryannhayes2) with the three ladies my great grandmother Mary Ann Hayes is on the right.
I'm guessing these photos are from 1940s or 50s so if you had relatives on Joseph St around this time these could yours :D
Again I know it's a long shot with old photos and seemingly before the invention of supportive undergarments but hey, if anyone can solve this mystery of who the other people are the folks here can ;D ;D
Good hunting ;D ;D

The mary ann hayes is my wife's grt granny and the lady on the left is a Mckenzie photo taken in joseph st

Wow really, that's amazing. Thank you so much. ;D ;D
So you're saying in the 2nd photo with three people the lady on the for left has the surname McKenzie?

Hi JS,
I can't help with your names but I would suggest you also add the pics (separately) to the 'Restoration' Forum as the people on there will make your pics lovely, iron out the creases & if you want they will add some colour & all free ;D
Lovely pics though!

May I clarify because I don't yet have all these people in my ancestry tree. Which grandchildren of Isabella's would they be.
The Spence connection I have is Isabella Hayes marries William Edward Spence in 1919. They go on to have seven children and on no particular order are;
Catherine Andrews Spence
Edward Spence
Elizabeth Spence
James Spence
Robert Spence
William James Spence
Augustus Spence
-
Catherine Andrews Spence 2 (James and Frankie)
Edward Spence 5 (Geraldine, Ronnie and another son)
Eliza Jane (Lily) Spence 7 (No children)
James Spence 3 (George, James, William, Samuel, Irene and Donna)
Robert Spence 4 (Robert, Gerry, Marty, Lindy and Isobel)
William James Spence 1 (Children Margaret, Edward and Norman)
Augustus Andrew (Gusty) Spence 6 (Elizabeth, Sandra, Catherine and Andrew)
The numbers represent the oldest sibling down to the youngest, all are now deceased, with Lily passing away on July 2nd last year.
This is the line from William Edward and wee Bella Spence 66 Joseph Street.
-
Forgot : Catherine (Cassie) was married to Frankie Curry and Lily to David Donaldson
-
My wife says that the child on granny hayes knee is not Bobby McMaster but Jim Brown as they are her cousins
-
Don't think I've ever seen a post (to date) with such a quick connection with other family members, amazing indeed!!!

For a bit of fun, how about this one. Courtesy of my new best friend and cousin ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
It looks like this a Scrap Iron drive and organised by the Women of Joseph St. A few of my relatives are here including my grandmother whom I'd never seen before ;D ;D
But what about yours, does anybody recognise anyone?
-
yes her name was Edith{ edie ) McKenzie
So I eventually found out who she is. Would you believe she's actually Edith Jane Johnston (b1887) who married James McKenzie in 1909!
I've yet to prove it but been told she's my grandfather's cousin. ;D ;D Plus not forgetting she's with my grandmother's mother.
Now just to find out who is in the middle. lol

1943 Belfast Street Directory shows Edith McKenzie lived at #23 Joseph Street and Mary Ann Hayes #43. The 3rd lady will likely be a neighbour too as they are all in their aprons and these would have been taken off if they were leaving the house to go shopping etc... Photos were usually taken by street photographer as most people did not have the money to buy a camera of their own so neighbours would have squeezed in together to get in the photo. It may be it just happened these 3 were having a chat and a photo opportunity presented itself. There was also a Mary McKenzie living at # 51 which may have been a relative of Edith and perhaps she is the 3rd lady.

Edith is listed also on the 1911 census as being at 44 Joseph Street, not unusual for families to move around the same street over the years as the children were added. (mine lived at about 5 different houses in McCleery St). Edith was only 2 years married and had one child.
Theres a Mary Ann Hayes living at 39 Upper Meadow Street on 1911 census and the age matches, she is one of 4 living children (8 born) and working as a typist.

44 is the enumerator's number for the household but the actual address is 80 Joseph St.-

Thank you for your help, I’m new to this so unsure how to reply to each post individually so forgive me in advance. I saw that she lived at st Joseph street thanks for the clarification regarding the address, as so the both it says she was born in India father born in Belfast. Jeannie mc kenzie from Belfast about the correct age appears on my late father in laws baptismal cert as his mother. He and his brother were put in an orphanage in Belfast, a few years apart and thought that maybe there was a connection. Without any records it’s left a huge gap in the family and I know that my late father in law always wondered what happened, he was a baby and his brother was a few years older. Again thank you all for your help. :) my late father in law was called Brian born in 1933 and his brother was Desmond.
