Can someone help decipher these names please? They were under a photo and I would like to know who they are?
Not sure if I should be posting this on the photo restoration thread first as I think it needs some manipulation in order to read it properly, but if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. I'm hoping an ancestor is in this photo.
Thanks and best wishes,
Jenni

I can see Chapple in the first line and Urquhart in the second.

I think I can also see on the first line:
James, ? Hawkins, Carter and maybe Gage
Second line:
McKenzie and something like Hockey at the far right? :-\

Making it a negative, I think I see names including Chapple, Hawkins, Cotter, Gaye, Urquhart, McKenzie
-
My thoughts:
First line - .Chapple.........LM James, C Hawkins...Cotter...Gage
Second line - .Urquhart,.Smith..McKenzie Esq...Finley,..Hocking
There also seem to be some words between the lines but I can't make anything out of them.

Thanks all, especially dublin1850 for doing the negative and for the combined effort of you all.
My ancestor's name was Wilkinson, so it looks like he isn't in this photo. I didn't want to give that away before in case it made you look too hard to see it.
It's strange though. This was a photo of the municipal council and WIlkinson was a member when this was taken, so I wonder why he wasn't photographed? Another mystery to solve.
Thanks for all your efforts! Much appreciated.
