Jacob Rice Gatewood married Catherine Callender in 1867 (nice photographs on ancestry)- it could be that Mary E Gatewood could have been his Aunt - Mary E Gatewood and Larkin Gatewood were brother and sister. Larkin could be the father of Jacob and died just after he was born ???
Mary E Gatewood and Larkin S Gatewood (married Nancy Rice 29 November 1837) could be children of Henry Gatewood 14 November 1772 - Culpepper,,Virginia passed away 27 September 1830 - Shelby, Indiana - listed on find a grave - see below.
FIND A GRAVE shows the couple buried Sylvan Grove, Lincoln County, Kansas.

Sandra,
That is so much info. Thank you for the gatewood side, but did find Andrew's parents any where?
-
Nothing to positively identify Andrew Jones - as i said census prior to 1850 only give the name of a head of household, the rest were numerically sorted by age. Unfortunately Jones is also such a common name.
