Title: Samuel Kirk
Post by: xkopite on Thursday 23 February 17 22:25 GMT (UK)
If anyone can help me I would be most grateful.
I have a Samuel Kirk married to Eliza Mills !st April 1847 at the Parish Church in Killeevan district of Clones Co of Monaghan.
Their fathers both had the name William and occupations as farmers.
At the time of the marriage Samuel was residing at Newbliss and Eliza at Killygorman.
They had a daughter Martha about 1848 and a son William 1849 before the left for Liverpool about 1850-1.
In 1856 Eliza came back to Ireland to have her daughter Mary, Maybe to her Mills family.
Would there be any chance of finding anything about these family members from the info I have given. I know the hard work it can take plus time, thanking you in advance whatever the outcome.

Given the size of Killygorman and the entries shown for it in Griffith's Valuation (print date 1861), these have to be candidates for siblings of Eliza Mills, all recorded as living in Killygorman at the time of marriage, all with a father recorded as William, a farmer:

- 25 year old John Mills who married Mary Anne Bowes in Clones parish on 17 December 1853;
- Charlotte Mills who married Thomas Fox in Killeevan parish on 25 July 1856;
- Mary Mills who married James Smith in Killeevan parish on 14 November 1856;
- James Mills (a farmer) who married Matilda Little in Killeevan parish on 24 July 1860.

Many thanks gaffy, thats a big help on her side of the family.
I suppose it was a sign of the times that the mother very rarely get a mention except on her marriage certs.
Thank you again for any info you come across.

Thank you aghadowey,
For posting this info.
I was wanting any info on the Father (William)  and mother of Samuel Kirk and any siblings.
Going by his marriage cert he was in residence at Newbliss.
He was protestant  and when he was living in Liverpool he had his children baptized in C of E church.
Thank you for any help in this matter.
