A member of my family died in the hospital in 1895. I have a copy of her patient records but there is no mention of where she was buried only date of death. I have searched burial records from her home town many miles away. I do not know where to look in Denbigh - was there a cemetery in the hospital ? Many thanks

There is a post on this site which says that patients were often buried in Denbigh Cemetery, the council cemetery.

You need to scroll down and find the post by Lyndsay.
There seems to be a facility for posting questions on this site and an archivist answers them.
On the other hand, there is another site which suggests that the hospital had a burial ground there.

I should think the Denbighshire Archives should be able to assist you with this query.

Thank you Jo for your reply.I have been in touch with Denbighshire archives but they cannot find a record for my great grandmother in the council cemetery in Denbigh.There is no mention of burial records for the hospital itself although it does appear that some patients were buried there on death. I will now try to get burial records for the council cemetery in her home town.I have had burial records for quite a few local cemeteries but cannot find her.Thanks for your help.Mags

I wonder how you wee able to get your relatives records - I have a relative who was a patient there in the late 1930's and would very much like to get hold of her records.

You most probably need to contact the archives, but they may decline as your relative has not been dead for 100 years.
It's always worth asking as different archives have different policies

My great grandmother died in the Denbigh hospital in 1895 - I understand that 100 years has to have passed before records are available.You could check this out with the Denbighshire archives in Ruthin.135 CHAPEL

My 3xgreat grandmother also died in the asylum in 1916, we had her records a few years ago, which would have been before the 100 year rule, so it's worth asking the record's office. My ancestor was buried in her home village a few miles from the Asylum, so try a general search for your relation's burial.
