Title: Ellis Ramsey Williams - Gwernymynydd
Post by: LASstunts on Monday 27 February 17 21:48 GMT (UK)
Hi I am looking for any info on the Williams family who had a farm at Gwernymynydd.  I have John Ellis Williams b 1801 married to Catherine Ann Jones 1809-1870.  They had 4 children  Ann b 1837, Catherine b 1839, Ellis Ramsey 1841-1912, Margaret b 1841.  Ellis had a daughter - Catherine A "Katy" Willams born at farm in 1877. From what I have been told he was disappointed that he didn't have son to take over farm so he sold the farm to his sister Elizabeth (I think her name may have been Catherine Elizabeth) took the money and moved to the United States where he had Ellis, David, Mary, George, Evan, Sarah, William, Lee Emma and Margaret.  Have been told he was the black sheep of the family for moving. My aunt visited Wales in 1971 and met an aunt Elizabeth Hughes (she was 91 yrs at the time) who was living with a great niece Bludwe Ellis in Hope.  I believe Ellis sister Margaret married a Hughes and had a daughter Elizabeth.  My aunt also met a Peter and Violet Hughes who were living in Mold.  Don't have info on when John Ellis died or any info on the daughters and who they married and kids
