So people can take a look, the passenger list is here - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV1W-4W74  It says he was going to San Francisco, but the 2nd page said "None" on who he was going to join.

Looking at the 1909 immigration record, he was born c1849 in England.  In which city or county was he born, please?  (Image looks like Surley)

I've not seen a great amount of passenger lists, but he seems to have had a lot of money with him ($1,000), compared to the passenger lists that I've seen.

I cannot read his occupation; could it be Tourist?   :-\  Do you know what he did for a living prior to 1909, please?

yes all that is correct and he ran the Taroom Hotel in Qld before leaving it to go to New Zealand he left a Elizabeth Baird who claim to be his wife, had three sons, but was not legal married he married a Euphemina Ross in Auckland New Zealand  in 1901 and is suppose to have left her to go to America
he brought a Shoe Machine while he was there , and he is suppose to have come back to Sydney in 1910 but can not find any records of that either thank you

I've not yet found anything for Charles, but this is a very short article about Father T. W. Price who was also on board Charles' ship.

I've not yet found Mr. Clarke in any newspapers (using words like: boot, shoe, New Zealand, passenger, etc.), but this is the link in case you would like to give it a go:

Rev. T. W. Price sailed to Tahiti 18 October 1909, and the passenger list was included in the newspaper.  Perhaps you may be able to find Mr. Clarke's return using the above link?

In the US, each state and/or city holds its own marriage records and not all are available online.

In the 1909 passenger list on the 2nd page, he says he was never in the US before.
