Hi everyone:
I'd love some help with this problem please:
The above named married Lily MORRILL at the Register office in Chorlton, Manchester
This is the record of marriage.
1896 Marriage Solemnized at the Register Office, in the District of Chorlton, in the Counties of Manchester & Lancaster.
No. 30: 18 April, 1896, Robert DIXON, 28 years, Bachelor, Miner, of 9, Galloway Street, HULME, son of Arthur DIXON, deceased, milk dealer, & Lily MORRILL, 22 years, Spinster, of 17, Newcastle St, Hulme, daughter of William Henry MORRILL, deceased, Confectioner. Were married in the Register Office by Certificate before me, James Bloomfield, Registrar & David S. Bloomfield, Supt Registrar.
In 1901, Census the record reads this: Robert DIXON, head, Married, 34, Miner of Sewers, worker, born Durham, Durham, in the 1911 Census, it reads this: Robert DIXON, Head, 50, Married, for 15 years, Clay Miner, Worker, Born Durham.
I am trying to find his birth in Durham & him & mum and dad in Durham in Census of 1871 & 1881-anyone help at all?
There is a thread on Lancashire Roots Chat linked to this one: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=767157.new;topicseen#new

Hi everyone,
Well I did send for a birth certificate for a Robert Dixon born about 1868-1869 in Duram and this was the result:
Registration District DURHAM, 1869 Birth, in Sub-district of Saint Oswald, in the County of Durham.
Column No. 80: Born on 6th January 1869, at 25 Brandon Colliery, Robert, Boy, son of Margaret DIXON, (no father's name given or occupation), informant mother Margaret DIXON of 25, Brandon Colliery, on 18th January 1869, by Thomas Gowland, Registrar.
I have looked for Margaret DIXON in 1871 census so far without success, and not sure what is Brandon Colliery and what is number 25? I suppose she could have married someone before the census. I certainly cant find Robert Dixon born 1869 in 1871 census. Anyone any ideas?

I didn't check the names properly - was thinking she was Mary A - sorry.
Oh dear re the death though. You would have to check the death certificate :-\

Yes I know but clearly this is the wrong Robert Dixon, if it was the right one then he would be with his mother in that 1871 Census.

Look at this though:
1881 England census for Robert DIXON
Durham, Brandon & Byshottles: District 14
28 North Street:
John DIXON, Head, Married, 41, Coal Miner, born Easington
Elizabeth DIXON, wife, married, 39, born Hetton, Durham
John DIXON, Son, Married, 21, Coal Miner, born Durham, Durham
William DIXON, son, Unmarried, 20, Coal Miner, born Durham, Durham
Mary J DIXON, Daughter, 12, Scholar, born Durham, Durham
Robert DIXON, son, 10, born Durham, Durham
Thomas DIXON, son, 8, born Durham, Durham
Sarah DIXON, daughter, 6, born Durham, Durham
Margaret DIXON, daughter, 4, Born Durham, Durham
Elizabeth, DIXON, daughter, 1, Born Durham, Durham.
This looks like the same family in 1871 with John & Elizabeth having a son called Robert born 1871, looks like quite a few on Free BMD in 1871.

Yes Heywood following that family through the census Robert Dixon isn't the one I am looking for anyway.
