Pigot's Directory lists William Minear at "Ring of Bells " Tavern in 1830 and 1837 directory.
Can any one advise location? May have been St Austell or neighbourhood according to directory.
Trying to identify family , in particular Mary Hancock Minear who married William Henry Harry at Charlestown 1853.
-
The marriage on Cornwall OPC states no father's name for Mary (a minor), although William's father is mentioned?
So, this baptism looks likely:
6th April 1834, at St Austell
Mary Minear, daughter of Jane Minear, base child
(No father's name, but father a victualler)
The fact that she uses Hancock as a middle name would seem to suggest that her father was a Mr Hancock?
-
Any idea of location of "Ring of Bells" and Minear family?

Victoria Square St Austell. Demolished prior to 1893 when a YMCA was built. This building still seems to exist. Google maps may help.
I am having problems loading maps on my ipad, but I suggest you find the location of Victoria Square on a current map, and then look at NLS maps for St Austell to find the location. Pubs are sometimes named.

Burials (Cornwall OPC)
Elizabeth Minear, age - 64, buried - 29 Nov 1828, place - St Austell, residence - Town, notes - burnt? to death
This fits with a report in the Western Times, 13 Dec 1828, of the death of Elizabeth Minear "...who sometime since kept the Ring of Bells public house, at St. Austell ... so severely burned she survived the accident but two days".
-

Thank you hanus teulu.
That is exactly what I needed.
I am chasing up Mary Hancock Minear bpt 6 Apr 1834 who married my William Henry Harry 6 Apr 1853 St Austell.
The bpt. record shows that Mary was a base child of Jane ( I assume Minear ) with an occupation of victualler.
Rex Harry

This looks like William (deceased March 1832) Minear's family in 1841 -
Census reference HO107 146 35 17
The Royal Cornwall Gazette 15 Oct 1831 "At St Austell, on Thursday, the wife of Mr Wm Minear, Innkeeper, of a son"
Baptisms (Cornwall OPC)
4 March 1832, Austell St., Edward Minear, parents William and Jane, residence - Town, profession - hatter, born 13 Oct 1831
No sign of a Mary Hancock Minear in the family.

You are chasing a Mary Hancock Minear who married a William Henry Harry. A Mary Minear was baptised 1834 - nothing to link (as yet) the marriage with the baptism?
-
Thanks again.
Can you oblige me with content of HO107 146 35 17 as not able access.
I am also having difficulty in finding Mary Hancock Minear who married my William Henry Harry.

I wonder if this is a possible scenario:
1851 Census
Union Road, Charlestown HO107/1907 folio 113 pg 4
William Davey head mar 51 miner b. Sheviock
Jane wife 47
William son 13 miner
Mary M Hancock servant 17
John Hore 46 miner
Henry Alsop 40 shoemaker b. Devon, Calstock
all born St Austell except where noted
The Daveys are still in Union Road in 1861, William, Jenefer, William H, and are next door to William & Mary Harry. RG9/1547 folio 126 pg 29..
William Henry Harry married Mary Hancock Minear 6 April 1853 St Austell. Looks like them next door.
I am concluding that Mary , base daughter of Jane Guy) Minear bpt 6 Apr 1834 was Mary M Hancock , a servant living with William Davey and Jane ( Hore) at Trleavens Crooss Lane in 1841 and Union Rd Charlestown with same family in 1851.
The very same person identified as Mary Hancock Minear married my William Henry Harry 18 June 1853.
In 1861 she is Mary H Harry aged 26 living at Union Rd St Austell.
Your thoughts appreciated.

Has Jane been recorded twice?
Looking at the Cornwall OPC transcription, as originally posted, father's occupation given as "victualler". In the absence of a father on the register, the occupation presumably applies to Jane - about as big a clue as you are likely to get?

I have determined that Jane ( Guy) Minear bpt 1800 was buried 24 Sep 1873 aged 74. She was widowed from husband William Minear of "Ring of Bells" Tavern who died 1832.
I traced her on Census 1841 through to 1871.Mary Hancock Minear does not appear on any of these.
Instead I think she was previously known as Mary M Hancock living with the family of William Davey at Treleavens Cross Lane in 1841 , same family at Union Rd Charlestown in 1851.
In 1853 she married William Henry Harry.
In 1861 she and William are living next door to the Davey family in Union Rd.
Mention of "victualler" on her bpt image suggests Minear connection. no known connection to Hancock.
