Can anyone make out what the bit is after Fred (erick) Smiths name.
-
I believe it reads ... per JR (or other initials?), being the initials of the person who filled in the schedule on behalf of Frederick Smith.
-
I read it the same as Bookbox - per JR or IR. However, per means 'for' as in pp (per pro - for and on behalf of). So the per here could mean 'for JR' which would imply that Fred was signing for somebody else.
-
Thanks
Here is his name on the page.
-
I see Fredk.
Oh I beg your pardon, I was looking at the wrong part of the image.
-
Frederick Smith was the head, it is the bit extra after the signature I`m curious about.
The writing is different to the main entry details.

It's as Bookbox and Greensleeves have suggested in Replies #1 and 2 - per JR or <something> R.
Are there any hints on the rest of the form who JR might be?

What were the enumerator's initials? (Bottom left)

Gadget, there is Fred`s wife and his son. All Smith.
-
If this is the 1911, the Enumerator's name should be on the first page of the set - can you give me full details of the family so that I can look them up and see what other pages have.

Thanks :)
It looks like the same squiggle to me.

The Enumerator's name is in full on the front of each Summary Book :)
