Title: BRYANT...What part of IRELAND does the name come from

My Gr Gr Grandfather came from Ireland............but what part?

His name was TIMOTHY M BRYANT and he emigrated to England before 1833 as his son was born at Peckham, Surrey in about 1833 (according to the 1851 census). His wife was also Irish...her christian name being Honorah (1851)...Ann R (1861) and I don't know if they married in Ireland or England?

What part of Ireland is the name of BRYANT most likely to come from?

That's a pity - sorry.

The name Bryan is associated with Co. Kilkenny but I can't find anything about the name Bryant.  Are they variants of the same thing?

It's certainly a variant..............well the enumerators/registrars used it often enough when they didn't hear correctly

does it have its own origins ?

Bryan is of Anglo-Norman origin.

Mac Bryan / Mac Brine is derived from Mac Braoin and is common in County Fermanagh.  It can also appear as Mac Brien or O Brien.

Hi, I was born in Peckham, my dad was James William Robert Bryant. He was born just off the Old Kent Road. His father was called Robert. They were Fish mongers and market traders. Hope this helps.

Honora(h), Honoria, Honor, Hanora, Ann, Annie are all variations. May also be written as Hannah. Very popular girl's name in Ireland in 19thC.

I see this is quite an old post.
There is a Timothy Bryant in
Bryant  Timothy   Killmurriheen (Townland) Inishkeen (Parish) Monaghan County
This is about 1830, there isn't a date/year on this but he is not listed later, so 90% it could be your Timothy.
