Title: St Erkenwalds School Braintree
Post by: ckd on Tuesday 21 March 17 11:11 GMT (UK)
I am writing my Father's Eulogy and listening to a 2 hour audio tape that I made with him in his last years. In looking for details of St Erkenwalds School on the internet I came across this site and thought I'd see what people might know about the area and the school and, unlikely I know, my father.

He was 10 when the war started and lived at 13 Upside Down, Studley Road. After a brief stay in Scotland the family returned in 1940 to Lillychurch Road where at the end of September 1940, their house and 250 others were made uninhabitable by a land-mine. He recalls sleeping on the floor of St Erkenwalds school.

Does anyone have any information that might be useful?

Many thanks
