I am looking to find more information about this couple. They died in Glasgow in 1902 and 1905 respectively. Information from the Death Certificates as follows:
John Lindop Father: John Lindop Mother: Elizabeth Talbert
Hannah Wyse Father: Thomas Wyse Mother: Elizabeth Williscroft
From the 1891 & 1901 census returns, they were born in England, no county or town given, and they do not appear on the 1881 census in Scotland. Also according to her Death Certificate Hannah Wyse was first married to William Steel. I do not see anything on Family Search.
Any information would be very much appreciated. isk

Any clues as to their years of birth?
1881 England & Wales census has 63 John Lindop's ;D
-
Sorry KGarrad, should have given that information. According to John Lindop's Death Certificate in 1902 he was 65, giving birth date about 1837 - Hannah Wyse died in 1905 aged 61, giving birth date about 1844.

There is no indication on John Lindop's Death Certificate of a previous marriage but it is entirely possible. I must look into the birth of little Gertrude Warrilow born in Glasgow in 1870 from the 1871 census. Gertrude Elizabeth born in Stoke on Trent in 1875 died in Glasgow of Phthisis, aged 19, and Albert born in 1880 married in Glasgowand died there in 1946.
I want to thank each of you for all this information and your interest. isk

Gertrude Warrillow
Birth 18 Oct 1869, Central District, Glasgow
Father: William Warrillow
Mother: Elisabeth Lindop
sadly I think she may have died in 1871 - registered as Mary Gertrude
the Warrillows do seem to be regulars in scotland. Here's 1881 - 3 entries away from John and Hannah Lindop, with the 3 younger children all born Glasgow.
Elizth. Warrilow 33 - married, b Crewe
John Warrilow 13
Arthur Warrilow 9
Elizth. Warrilow 7
Olive Warrilow 1
RG11, 2731, 32, 2
1891 - 60 Albert St, Glasgow
William Warrilow 44 - pottery cratemaker b England
Elizth L Warrilow 43
John Warrilow 23
Arthur Warrilow 19
Levia Warrilow 12
Frank Warrilow 2 - son b Glasgow
Nellie D Warrilow 7 Mo - daughter b Glasgow
Sarah D Warrilow 19 - daughter in law
This helped me find William in 1881 - a visitor in Glasgow. I guess somehow he;s been recruited from the Staffordshire potteries to some in Glasgow?

Once again very many thanks for your interest. I will follow the Scottish records next week at the Genealogy Centre in Glasgow. isk

1851 Census - Stoke upon Trent, Staffs.
Joshua Lindop 64 Engine Fitter born Wrexham, Denbighshire
Elizabeth Lindop 64
John Lindop son 27 marr. Engine Fitter born Burslem, Staffordshire
Eliza Lindop 25 dau. in law born Hanley, Staffordshire
Elizabeth Lindop 3 granddaughter born Crewe, Cheshire
Three year old Elizabeth's birth on GRO Index shows mothers maiden name as Pope.
John Lindop married an Eliza Pope 5/8/1844 Stoke on Trent and certificate (on FindMyPast) confirms his father was Joshua and hers was Richard Pope. However, his other children with Eliza show their mmn as Simpson! Did this first Eliza die and he remarried to another Eliza (or not - I cannot find a marriage to an Eliza Simpson). A mystery to unravel for you.

Annette, thank you for this. Isn't it always the same, one answer just leads to another question, but that may be why we do this. I am grateful for your help. isk 🙂 🙂
