Hello spuraway. Welcome to Rootschat.
The marriage certificate will give you the names of the fathers of both Anne Lydia Jones and her husband. You should get a copy of it.
They were married Dec 25th 1881 - Christmas day! at Smallthorne in Staffordshire - 8 miles South West of Leek - the official registration area is given as Leek.
He is down as Eli John Bourne, aged 25, a bachelor, father Eli Bourne.
She is Annie Lydia Jones aged 24, spinster, father George Jones.
Both fathers deceased.
Both give their residence as Smallthorne.
Have you found them in the Censuses?
In 1881 Annie L Jones aged 23 is living at Norton in the Moors, Staffordshire - just 1 mile to Smallthorne, which I think must be her. She gives her place of birth as Ironbridge Shropshire.
She is living with her mother Sarah who is a widow and 60 years old. She just gives her place of birth as Shropshire.
You can probably track them now through the 1871 and 1861 Censuses, and possibly her parents in 1851 and 1841.
Happy hunting!

There are several Ann/Annie/ Jones with fathers George around this part of Shropshire at the time you are looking at.
I would urge you be very careful and check every details of censuses, (ages, places of birth, siblings, occupations etc), and of any marriage, birth or death certificates you get.
Could get a bit tricky! :D
-
This looks like a likely marriage on FindMyPast.
George Jones married Sarah Tranter 21st May 1848 at Wellington parish church, Shropshire.
He is 'of age' and a Moulder, father Thomas Jones, a Nailor.
She is 'of age' father William Tranter, collier.

I think this is the same family in 1851 in Madeley- all family listed as born Madeley
George Jones 31 Iron Moulder
Sarah Jones 31
William Jones 11 Months
Eliza Barker 31 Visitor
Kay
Added - And by 1881 Sarah was a widow living with daughter in Smallthorn
Sarah Jones 60 Madeley Wood Shrop
Annie L. Jones 23 Ironbridge

Good you also found the same 1881 Census entry as me Kay! :) (see my first post).
It looks a very plausible entry for Annie L and mother Sarah.
-
Sorry I missed that part of your post Goldie. I agree that it does look like the right family and father George had died by 1881 which agrees with Annie's marriage cert in 1881 :)
