Appreciate if anyone can add further information to the family of Charlotte ATTWOOD who married 1878 Hollingbourn, Frederick James FORD.
I can find 2 children both born at Thurnham, Florence b. 1878 as Florence Ford ATTWOOD and
Herbert Charles FORD b. 1884.
Also in 1884 Charlotte's husband Frederick died.
In the 1891 Census I can find a Charlotte BELL b.1856 Thurnham but not a Charlotte FORD. Could this be the same Charlotte? She is a widow but has no children with her.
I have been unable to find a marriage for Charlotte to a BELL.
Charlotte died as FORD in 1935 Croydon, Surrey and her probate is left to her children Florence & Herbert.
Can anyone find Charlotte or her children from 1891 onwards.
I do know that both Florence & Herbert married so don't need those details.
Kind regards,
Sashar

After searching everywhere last night I have just stumbled across the 1891 Census with the 2 children with their grandparents.
Florence as Florrie ASTWOOD and Herbert as FOORD.
Their mother Charlotte not with them.

Thanks Maddy,
Interesting that the two 1891 Census are different - I guess that's how they've been transcribed.
Thanks for the 1901 Census.
It's just Charlotte FORD now that I am missing 1891-1911.

Yes, she is hard to find! Have you checked with any of her siblings to see if she is with them? Or maybe in-laws?
(Transcriptions can vary so much from one site to another!
Sometimes you really have to be a super-sleuth ;))

Hi Maddy,
Charlotte had 8 siblings and I have checked 4 of them so far without luck. Tried her parents. I'm not sure who her husband Frederick James FORD's parents were.
I'll keep going and see if any end up in Croydon, Surrey where Charlotte died in 1935.
Thanks for your help..........Sashar

Looking at the 1901 census there is a Charlotte Bell recorded as living in Lincolnshire see link:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XS8R-7PK
also recorded on this census is an Alice E Attwood aged 25 born Newington Kent
This looks like her birth reg:
ATTWOOD, ALICE EMILY Mother's maiden name WARREN
GRO Reference: 1875 D Quarter in MILTON Volume 02A Page 764
Marriage for her parents:
15th Dec 1874
Newington
Emily Warren
William Attwood
Brides father William Warren
Grooms father William Attwood
This looks like Charlotte with a brother William in the 1861 census (father's name William):

So a coincidence that both Chalrotte Bell and Alice E Attwood are both working in Lincolnshire or are they Aunt and Niece??

Hi candrjm,
You are amazing!
No more sleepless nights for me, I was really sure Charlotte BELL was Charlotte ATTWOOD but couldn't work out why she used the name BELL. Seems an unusual thing to do but you have tied the facts together beautifully.
Can't thank you enough for all the information you have sent.
and...yes, Alice is Charlotte's niece!
In appreciation...........Sashar
