Title: Rickard/Duignan and Farrell/Smyth (Killaconnigan/Kildalkey)
Post by: laochrione on Thursday 27 April 17 13:45 BST (UK)
I'm been researching Luke Rickard and Ann Duignan of Killaconnigan/Kildalkey. They had one son (that I have a record for), my great grandfather Thomas. He was born in 1858 in Kildalkey and died in 1938 in Shallon, Co. Dublin. The only record I have for his mother Ann Duignan is his baptismal record. I am unsure as to whether my grandfather Luke may have married twice. As such I can find no other definite siblings for my grandfather Thomas.

I am also researching William Farrell and Mary Smyth from Kildalkey. Mary was born in 1841 in Dunderry to Thomas Smyth and Mary Garry. According to his military records, William was born in 1818 in Kildalkey. He spent many years in the East India Company Army before retiring home to Kildalkey and starting a family with Mary. They had eleven children:
Patrick (1861)
Thomas (1862)
Peter (1864)
My granny, Kate (1865)
Mary (1867)
Mary (1870)
Michael (1873)
James (1874)
Anne (1876)
Henry (1878)
Bridget (1883)
All were born in Clonbarron, Kildalkey
William died in 1896 and Mary died in 1919 in Clonabarron, Kildalkey.
My grand parents Thomas and Kate married in 1888 in Kildalkey. Kate died in 1934 in Shallon, Co. Dublin.

If anyone has any information on either of these lines I'd most appreciate it. If anyone is descended from any of William and Mary's kids, I'd also love to know.

Thank you in advance!
Kelley

No  :) I am trying to help you and thought that if the parish records were online I would search around them in case there were mistranscriptions.

Oh you are so good! Thank you for the thought. The Kildalkey records are only available on RootsIreland or through the Meath Heritage centre, which is a bit of a bummer.
When I come across people looking for information from the Kildalkey parish I will always try to help as it costs a few bob to get the subscription.

Hi I am researching the Rickard line. I know a Luke Rickard Esq. (1823-1908) who married Mary McCormick (b. 1823). Luke is from Kildalkey and Mary was the daughter of Mark McCormick Esq. of Clonmahon house summerhill. Are these connected to the Luke rickard you earlier mentioned??

Hi Dathai - I didn't have this one. As I'm not quite sure which line my own gt+ grandfather Luke belongs to, I've been keeping tabs on all of them and drawing up the separate trees. They're all related somehow, it's just a matter of finding the common ancestor. I'll definitely add this Luke and Mary McC's tree! Thanks!!

Blimey, this is brilliant - TY. Technically I know everyone buried there, I'm related to 90% of them. But I've always wanted to see the internment books! This is fab!! Thank you so much!
It's a pity the internments for all graveyard's aren't available like this.

my father was also the grandchild of Thomas Rickard so, if your not my aunt then you are his first cousin. my dad was Cianian Rickard, son of John Thomas (Jack) Rickard. happy to meet you. i am living in the USA.  we recently made contact with the grandchild of Anne Rickard who is beginning to learn his heritage. There is way too much info to list here. look forward to touching base with you.

I am also researching the Rickards and Farrells of Kildalkey. My grandmother was Thomas Rickard and Catherine Farell's first child, Anne Rickard (1888-1927). I would be keen to share and I have found out with those searching for the same traces. Best wishes, Richard

Hi

More duplicates taken from irishgenealogy.ie website - as mentioned earlier.

Do these duplicates not just fill up the page, often burying other relevant information.

Should irishgenealogy.ie not be listed as a Resource, rather than quote its contents time and time again.
