In Shoreditch in 1901 at ref: Class: RG13; Piece: 274; Folio: 68; Page: 1, I have the Stevens Family ("Ancestry" has transcribed them as Slavens).
Jas., 1841, Yealmpton, Devon.
Jane A (ne Greep), 1845, Jersey, CI (sorry senior moment!)
Jane A, 1879, Shoreditch.
Catherine, 1882, Shoreditch.
Rosina, 1893, Shoreditch.
I have failed miserably on this one :'(
Can anybody locate this family prior to 1901 or the marriage record of James and Jane?. (All the children have been confirmed as Stevens/ mother Greep on GRO).

Have you seen this one in 1891 in Lamb Street, Spitalfields?
Class: RG12/275 Folio3 Page 5
They seem to have a number of older children with them.

HOW DID I MISS THAT IN 1891! (Oh, Michael, Michael)

1881
RG11/472 Folio: 95 Page 10
I realise wife Jane is not shown as born in Jersey in either 1881or 1891.

Easy to miss when you have been searching for a long while. You just need a fresh pair of eyes :)

Yealmpton: I think Jane is correct. Children coming out Greep on GRO births.
Thanks Barbara.

The family is in London in 1871 with a 1 year old John. Recorded as Stephens this time.
Looking for a marriage now.

Edit
There is a marriage in Bethnal Green in 1866. The full details are on Ancestry. Free BMD has indexed Jane's name as Guess.
