Title: Ackinclose Allegheny Pennsylvania
Post by: selby1977 on Thursday 04 May 17 09:32 BST (UK)
Hi
I have part of my family who emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1879- The family were Robert Ackinclose and his wife Susannah and children William Foster, Jane Foster Mary Duxfield and Katie and they settled in Jefferson Fayette. They had more children who were born in the USA Thomas Foster Garnet Wolsey, George and Murrel Robert.

I would love any information at all about this family- I have records from online but any other information would be great- I am looking for a marriage between William Foster Ackinclose and Elizabeth Debelle Moore in around 1895- not sure where they married they had three children Foster Murrel, Minor and Robert I think they lived in McKeesport.

thanks a lot any information at all would be great

                __________

Funeral services for Mrs. William Fitch whose death occurred at her home at 307 Anton Street Saturday morning at six o'clock will be held from the L. M. Frye Funeral Home, West Main Street tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock

Mrs. Fitch had been ill for some time and her death came quietly as she was sleeping. Mrs. Fitch, the former Jane Foster Ackinclose, was born in Whitley, England, May 18, 1874.

She had lived here since 1918 and was one of the city's well-known residents active in church, civic, social and hospital work. A lifelong Methodist, Mrs. Fitch belonged to the First Methodist Church of this city, was a charter member of its Woman's Society of Christian Service from its organization in 1940 following merger of the Women's Home and Foreign Missionary Societies with other women's divisions of the Church; the Class of Ruth of which she was teacher for 16 years, afterwards holding the post of assistant-teacher until her death. In club-work Mrs. Fitch served for many years as president of the Community Welfare Club of New Eagle, the family living in the Borough at the time, and was former member of the Monongahela Mothers Club.

For more than 30 years she was a director on the Advisory Board of the Methodist Home and Hospital for the Aged at Mount Lebanon. Her other affiliations over a long period of time were with the Women's Christian Temperance Union; Monongahela Chapter, No. 108, Order of the Eastern Star, of which her daughter, the late Miss Etna' R. Fitch headed as Worthy Matron in 1934; Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle, graduated at Chautauqua in 1926, also the Society of the Hall in the Grove composed of C. L. S. C. graduates. Mrs. Fitch was a woman of exceptional charm gracious and understanding, whose countless friends will treasure memories of their association with her.

A daughter, Mrs. Mary F. Morton, teacher in the New Eagle Schools, and a son, Everett of Jefferson, Pa., survive; also five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Garnet Ackinclose of Wilson, Pa., and Murrell Ackinclose of Youngstown, Ohio. Mrs. Fitch was preceded in death by Mr. Fitch, who died December 11, 1944; the youngest daughter, Evelyn Fitch Colvin, January 22, 1932, and Etna, June 23, 1952. Friends are being received at the Funeral Home. Officiating at funeral services tomorrow, afternoon will be her pastor, the Reverend Leonard H. Hoover, D. Selby1977 would know that "Whitley" is in Northumberland in 1874.

Hi
I am really grateful for all the information you have helped me with- I am hoping you may be able to help with another problem- Minor George or sometimes it is George Minor Ackinclose married Frances Marie Miller sometime before 1920 where she is aged 17 on the Census I cannot find a marriage for them. They were living in North Versailles Allegheny on the census in 1920 and Volta Street in 1930. Minor is living as a lodger in Turtle Creek in 1940 and Frances is living in Seneca Street Turtle Creek- have they been divorced? Minor then marries Margaret Mary Lindt in 1946. Has anyone any information?

Thanks

Barbara ???

Can you give some idea of a timescale (eg) her birthyear and clarify her name.   Was she born as Eleanor Martin then married a hyphenated surname or did she marry twice - once to Ackinclose and then to Rings?

Here is the background thread Carole

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=770889.0

Reply 35 on that thread shows the marriage of Eleanor Ackinclose and Clarence Rings

Eleanor Ackinclose married Clarence Rings 15 October 1938 - Turtle Creek, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VFQZ-R93

Eleanor was named in the obituary of her mother as Eleanor Martin but there are no marriage records online for the time frame in which that marriage would have taken place.

There is no SSDI record for an Eleanor Martin that I could see, perhaps she remarried  ???

U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995  for Eleanor A Rings - 1948 - showed employee -  MNB&TCo  - r 833 linden Ave - (EPgh)

Do you think it would be better to merge this with the other thread?

Hi Barbara.  I have this Ackinclose family in my tree as well, via the marriage of my relative Mary Duxfield to William Ackincloss.  I say marriage although I have never found one.  They had 7 children including Robert who emigrated to the US.  Are you connected to them through Robert's wife Susannah, I think I saw the name Foster in your list of names.   I would happily share what I have found on them in case we can fill in any gaps.  Regards.  Ian

Hi Ian
Susannah Foster was my 3x great Aunt. Since my posts on here I have found out quite a bit about the family who moved to America. However, I know very little about the Ackinclose family who remained in the UK.

I will happily share any information with you

Hi.  I can share the Ackinclose (UK and USA) tree that I have with you.  It will come as a largish pdf and word document, so can I email it to you?  It includes people who are alive so I don't want to put it onto the rootschat site.

regards

Ian

Or if you are on facebook I could send them via Messenger so we don't have to put our email addresses onto rootschat?  Ian

Hi   I have just managed to register.  I too have Ackinclose/Duxfield relatives on my tree - I am in the UK so can go down further from William and Mary's children.  Dora Ackinclose 1899-1956 is their grand-daughter.  I'm still searching this site, so maybe there will be more help.  thank you
