Title: Fire Officer Boston 1941/42
Post by: eileenb on Friday 05 May 17 10:03 BST (UK)
A contact is compiling a database of firemen who served WW11 and is struggling to identify the following

F. F. Carter understood to be the Chief Fire Officer at Boston 1941/42 and later believed to have been seconded to the Admiralty to run the brigade in Gibraltar in 1942.  He is understood to have remained with the fire service on his return.

That is the full extent of the information he has.

Any assistance in identifying this gentleman or any information at all on the fire brigade in Gibraltar at that time would be gratefully received.

"Mr. Frederick Freestone Carter was appointed sub-officer to the Boston Fire Brigade in December, 1938. He came to the town from the Wembley Brigade, being concerned in the earlier stages of the re-organisation of that body."

(Lincolnshire Standard, 6 September 1941, page 5)

He was born in Southend circa 1910

No UK newspaper mentions after December 1941 when he is seconded to the Admiralty for service in Gibraltar.

His name appears in New South Wales electoral rolls 1954-1968
