I am seeking a marriage for a male HODDINOTT and Hannah FURSMAN or FURZMAN; could it have been a second marriage?
I have found on https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp from 1863 onwards 6 births with the mothers surname as FURSMAN.
William HODDINOTT born 1q 1863 Frome 5c 616
Frederick Walter HODDINOTT born 1q 1865 Frome 5c 621
Alfred HODDINOTT born 3q 1869 Frome 5c 523
Hugh Joseph HODDINOTT born 3q 1873 Frome 5c 533
Alice Mary HODDINOTT born 1q 1878 Frome 5c 489
Edward HODDINOTT born 1q 1879 Frome 5c 505; died 1q 1879 Frome 5c 413
Any help in finding out more would be welcome. :)

I am struggling to find any of them on 1871 (the 3 born before 1871 I mean) - have you got the family on that census? Seeing the family as a whole may give some clues - (eg there may be older children indicating a marriage earlier than you would think, or there may be step children indication a second marriage.) The fact that more children are born after 1871 suggests that the family are together in 1871, not that either party has died.
PS cant see them on 1881 either
PPS - how do you know these children's mum was called Hannah?

Found on https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/
Charles HODDINOTT Age 21 & Zilliah FURSMAN Age 20; 28 Aug 1851 at Frome Holy Trinity Church.
Would this marriage be the right one? :-\
-
Here are Chalres and Zillah in 1861, already with a good brood of children -
1861
Cross Str , Frome
Charles Hoddinot 29 Butcher and dealer
Zillah 28
Benjamin C 9
George 7
Richard 5
Emily 3
Joseph 1
Edward 3 mths
all bn Frome
-
Chalres and Zillah have moved to Wales by 1871
1871
Roath, Glamorgan
Charles 39 labourer
Zillah 39
William 18
Richard 15
Lydia 12
Edwin 11
David 9
Alfred 7 all above bn Frome
Albert 3 bn Merthyr Tydfil
-
Snap! just found them in 1861 as well ;D
Thank you for the 1871 census details
-
They are still in Roath in 1881, (under Chalres and Zela Odnet)
So they don't look likely to be the parents of the children that you listed. I think we can rule them out.
-
Zillah is around in 1841/1851 with her family - maybe one of her sisters also married a Hoddinot :-\
Jane 15 in 1841
Naomi 13 in 1841 - not her she marries a Harris
-
Ah I see where you got Hannah from
1891
Hannah Hoddinott 46 widow
Hugh Joseph 17
Alice Mary 13
1881
Joseph Hoddinott 66
Hanah 36
Alfred 14
Hugh 7
Allice 3
Despite the age difference Joseph and Hannah are down as married head and wife
-
Confusing ::) I had a note from a researcher that a Joseph HODDINOTT and Hannah FURSMAN were married but have only found a Joseph H. Born ca 1822 in Rodden; parents Benjamin H. & Betty West. No marriage :-\
-
Unless the "researcher" can tell you when and where they married, I wouldn't take much note of it!
-
1871 they are together as a family
Joseph 55 head
Hannah 26 wife
Alfred 4 son
Walter Charles 4 grandson
-
There is a marriage with two Hoddinotts marrying each other - Joseph and Hannah both with Hoddinott fathers but that is just going to confuse things so won't go there!
Although Joseph is widowed farmer
Hannah is spinster
Ages not given unfortunately and marriage 1868 London also wouldn't explain the maiden name for births being different. Ah well.
Moving on :D
-
1871 adds some interest!
1871
Frome
Joseph 55 farmer 122 acres bn Lidford
Hannah 26
Alfred 11 bn Paris (!!)
Walter Charles 4 grandson bn Blatchbridge
Clearly Joseph has been married before, for there to be a 4 yr old grandson around when Hannah is only 28
So I think the marriage you found must be it.
-
1861 - Joseph widowed from first marriage
Frome
Joseph 42 widower Farmer bn Lydford
Walter 20 son bn Frome
Next door but one (though they are all farms so may be some distance away)-
JAmes Allard Farmer
Hannah Hoddinot 18 niece unm bn Wynsley?
-
1851
Feltham Frome
Joseph 35 farmer bn Lydford
Mary Ann 33 wife bn Frome
Walter 10 bn Frome
so that was Joseph's first wife
The Allards (Francis and Caroline age 40 are still 3 doors away at their farm, though Hannah isn't with them in 1851)
-
An Edwin H. born 1839 was married to Elizabeth Allard - in 1872? Elizabeth’s parent´s were Henry & Mary Allard, all in Frome.
