Hi there
Could anyone translate/decipher the writing please? It is for a Joanne Spicer. Unsure what the relationship is but the Minister is John Spicer. Have been looking for a m. bnetween a John and possibly ? Jone around 1570 and someone kindly pointed this one out to me
Any suggestions what the Latin wording means please
Thanks a lot

Joanne Spice-
ro artium ma-
gistro Rectore
= by John Spicer, Master of Arts, Rector
Joanne is not a female name but the ablative case of Joannes (meaning ‘by John’), indicating that these baptisms were performed by him.

Thanks for your wonderful talent and help, Bookbox! Not that it helps me find John/Johannis marriage but a bit more trolling through the PRs will ensue!
His handwriting is dreadful and being in Latin doesn't help but quill and ink no doubt so we should be grateful!
Again, many thanks

Perhaps he married before being appointed to this parish? You can check out his career here ...

Have been trawling the FS with lots of widened parameters and seems I have found he and she in Waddesdon in 1570. Getting to the point where no records are available but aren't we fortunate to have access to what we do have
I will remember your masterful Latin translations for any further problems
Many thanks
