Hi there
my father's birth certificate states he was born at this address:-
Derwen Pas, Neath Road, Crynant
DuPais Lower Road
Although I can find Neath Road, Crynant, I'm not have any success finding any reference to Derwen Pas or DuPais Lower Road.
Has anyone any ideas on the location?
Cheers

Crynant is in the Dulais Valley and the Dulais River flows through the village.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crynant
So I think what looks like a "P" is actually an "L", making it Derwenlas
add: or Derwen-las or Derwen Las

Agree with matthewj; Derwenlas is my reading, and the unusual 'l' is also seen in 'Dulais', below.

thanks to you both for that information.
Could I ask for some more assistance please -- should the address be written this way ?
Derwenlas, Neath Road, Crynant
Dulais Lower Road
or something completely different?
I can't really work out how to write it down lol.
Cheers

It must be a house on Neath Rd in Crynant, called Derwenlas. I think the Dulais Lower RD must refer to the registration district of that area of Neath.

Hi
I agree with Sam.
According to FreeBMD, the RD is Dylais Lower ( and there's a Dylais Higher )
Any locals?

Hi Lynda, sorry not local :), but an entry of a death referred to in a Glamorgan RootsWeb post of 2010 from a newspaper in 1926 - shows the same address:

JENKINS.- Sons and Daughters of the late Mr. Jos. JENKINS, Derwen-Las, Crynant, desire to tender their most sincere thanks to all friends and relatives for the kindness and sympathy shown in their recent sad bereavement, also for floral tributes sent.

Using the above info, and census images (which shows a Joseph Jenkins living at Derwen Las), the house before on the census return is Brynavon, and the next house is called Harddfan followed by Sunnyside.
I appreciate that this wont necessarily be sequential in terms of how the houses are located, but might help pinpoint a bit more?

goodness! a wealth of information so quickly!
I took the RD literally as being short for Road instead of realising it would be Registration District.. Thank heavens for contributors with more experience and knowledge :-)
Now to find some maps from that era and start looking.
Cheers and thanks to all :-)
