Rather confused about dates.
George Butler born 1883 Bristol, married Mary Grace Richards born 1886 Bristol, in 1914.
Now the confusion, According to the GRO Record site Mary's birth was registered in 1886, and George's birth was registered in 1883. But according to FindMyPast 1939 register Mary was born on the 21st October 1887, and George was born on the 20th February 1886.
Any help would be appreciated.

Are the births registered in the correct quarter?
Are the numbers written clearly in the 39 register?
Ages and birthdays were often out of line and those aren't far off so I wouldn't worry too much.
Some people didn't know or remember exactly how old they were, others fudged their ages for whatever reason.

Is the mothers maiden name for George - Williams?

Hi,
If you don't mind me asking, are you sure that the George that married Mary Grace RICHARDS was born in 1883?
I can see that in 1939 he was an engineer, in 1911 there was a engineer called George BUTLER which would match this one in 1901,
1901 RG13/2350 f.39 p.33 Kingswood, Gloucestershire (Registration district: Keynsham)
Pows RD
BUTLER
John Head 43 Hawker Beverstone
Julia Wife 42
Martha Daur 21 Tree boots in Boot factory
George Son 15 Copper Smith
Nellie Daur 12
Blanche Daur 7
Julia and all the children born in Kingswood.
All the children have the mmn STONE.
John BUTTER marries Julia STONE in 1878,
John BUTTER Dec Q 1878 Keynsham 5c 1115
Julia STONE
Birth
George BUTLER Jun Q 1886 KEYNSHAM 5c 653
mmn: STONE
Mary's death matches the birth registration,
Mary Grace Butler Jun 1977 Bristol 22 0349
DOB: 20 Oct 1886
so it looks like she just lost a year in 1939 :)
Do you have a marriage cert. to know who George's father was?
Regards,
Daisy
