Berkenhaught shared a common ancestor with some of my cousins. He was born 24.12.1828 and was christened/baptised twice, once in Ripon (birth place) and in the Salen Chapel, Highgate, the latter 19.11.1829. From c1837 to 1847 the family lived in Germany then Austria during which time Berkenhaught disappeared from the family. He may have died or stayed in Europe but I have no idea which. His parents were Samuel Hirst (1801-1882) and Ann Mary née Daville(b1808).
