Not sure about this but take a look and see what you think

took off from Kent in May 1940 with Pilot Officer K McGlashan at the controls heading for the French coast..............

It might be worth posting on the Kent History Forum.  There are some very knowledgeable people with interests in military history who might be able to help.

Here's a link to their aviation disasters board

Found this ,
Neil Barker says:

I have purchased an aircraft panel piece on ebay. This proports to be from a ME109E shot down on Dunkirk Kent on Monday 23rd Sept 1940. The panel has ME109 Dunkirk Kent 23rd Sept 1940 painted on it. The seller advised that his friends father had been a boy in 1940 & had probably scrounged the part after the crash. Might anyone have further data. I believe on 23rd Sept 1940 the Luftwaffe sent over 200 ME109’s in the morning, that were intercepted by various Hurricanes & Spitfires. Much concentrated air fighting with 10 ME109 shot down, plus 6 probables, with further 4 damaged. That’s all that I have. Sorry. I am looking to find the data for the ME109, pilot name, staffel etc. Thank you.

Hi Grandarog
That is wonderful! I have a little bit of info to point me in the right direction.
I am waiting to be accepted to join kent history forum, which may help also.
It's a shame we don't know the name of the young lad that found the piece of plane. Local talk says there are still bits there if you know where to look.
Thanks again!
Carol.

Sorry no idea how to contact. You might try to expand your research into some of the German Luftwaffe WW2 groups .They also have a War Graves data base like our CWGC . Just Google and find what you can to make contacts that you think could help you. Good Luck. :)

Hi Carol

I wonder if someone from The Kent Battle of Britain Museum at Hawkinge may be able to help you. They have a web site

http://www.kbobm.org/index.htm

There is contact address on the web site and a memorial to pilots. Maybe someone could give you some further info or 'point you in the right direction'

Heather

Not really. There are 6345 German war graves in the UK. Of these about 4914 were concentrated at Cannock. Most of these are in British Military cemeteries and war graves plots in churchyards etc. There's a whole variety of reasons why others were not moved.

Just to clarify further. As mentioned, 1431 graves were not concentrated. The grave at Lenham was one of those maintained in a war graves plot. A nice photo of part of the plot here:

Hi

If you haven't found it yet!
Looks like the pilot was Uffz. Manfred Langer, who was shot down on 19th September 1940.  Entry in book can be found by Googling his name.

Hope this gives you what you are looking for.

Good luck
Lee
