Post by: lizdoll on Tuesday 30 May 17 15:14 BST (UK)
Compiled from records held in the National Records of Scotland, the Scottish Genealogy Society has recently published: Balgedie United Presbyterian Church, Kinross-shire Baptisms 1829-1922 (ref: CH3/37/8). The first minister of the United Presbyterian Church of Balgedie, William Gibson, was ordained on the 22 August 1811, during the same year in which a church was built to house the charge. The congregation of Balgedie UP had first originated in 1800 and for the first ten years of its existence services were held in a barn belonging to John White of Easter Balgedie, or in the open air during the summer months, worship being conducted by a succession of supply preachers. The Baptism Register started in July 1829 and gives the name of the child, date of birth, parents’ names, occupation & residence (cost: £3.00 +p&p).
