I am looking for the baptism and parents of Thomas Ryde born c1823 in Hampton Wick, he married first to an Elizabeth in 1844 and when she died he married a Mary Ptindle in 1866. Most of his family life was spent around the Chiswick/Turnham Green area.

Thanks for that information, I have now found a marriage for William Ryde and Elizabeth Butler in 1812 in Sunbury, which is quit close to hampton. I now need to find a baptism for William.

William Ryde widower of Hampton Wick married Mary Elizabeth Bate at St Mary's Hampton 14 April 1827.
The Sunbury marriage to Elizabeth Butler gives her of the parish of Feltham (perhaps she wanted a riverside wedding/reception ;D )

Thomas is already in Isleworth in 1841 -age given as 15 occ Lathe render J(ourneyman)

Now found baptism of Richard RIDE 1757 st Shalford son of Francis RIDE and Elizabeth, but I can not find marriage on Family Search or FRree Reg.
There is a burial in Shalford with no age at death for a Richard Ryde 16 June 1764 :-\

2. Richard Ride Baptised ?1757 son of Francis Ride 7 Elizabeth, I cannot see any other Richard Ryde's born in that are at that time ?

I found a tree on Ancestry that shows Richard born 1757 in Shalford son of Francis Ryde and Elizabeth Pointer married Betty Stiles in 1783. It also shows Francis born c1724 in Stanwell Middlesex son of Francis Ryde and Sarah Crew, that Francis born c1690 at Lambeth.

I have found baptisms of Ryde's in West Clandon back to 1578 so I defintely think we have the right family.

Clandon is obviously Williams place of birth, the problem is with those that were alive before him. ;D
The trouble with Ancestry trees is that they often just adopt the hints they have been given without any further research.

Having been down these wrong trails before myself I would quite agree, but as there are Ryde's in that area back to 1578, I think I will need to look at other parishes close by that may not have been transcribed onto FreeReg or Family Search. Thanks again for all your help.

I do agree with you. Better to spend time on keeping on the right track than following the wrong one.
Ryde seems quite popular as a surname in that area.
