Title: removal orders
Post by: zannette on Thursday 01 June 17 10:54 BST (UK)
Hoping someone can answer this; if a family had a removal order placed on them, would they be transported to the nearest place in the relevant parish where they had a claim for support, or would they be taken to the place in the next parish that was relevant in a more personal way. i.e. the man was born there/his father was born there/ or he had worked there for more than 365 days?
The parish they were removed from was Skerton in Lancaster parish, and they apparently had a claim in Bolton le sands parish, and were taken to Nether Kellet. Date was 1770.
Cannot find the man's birth to get more info on his birth/father.
many thanks

I've found a couple of removal orders where the family was sent to the mother's birth town.

I have one for 1834 were a widow with two children all born Maghull Lancashire, being removed to the late husband/father birth area of Cheshire. The widow remarried and moved to Liverpool without going to Cheshire.

A woman took the settlement of the man she married and a widow who remarried took the husband's settlement.

Hi Zannette
Did you manage to find out who Anthony Armer's father was? Or anything else about the family? My mum was an Armer, and my family goes back to that area, but I can't see if/how they connect either:

My ggg grandfather was William Armer 1787-1858 born in Nether Kellett

I did find that Anthony Armer's wife Jane Jenkinson was born 1746, so Anthony would have been born around that time - but no record of it!
Best wishes, Sally
