Hi I am new to this site so I hope I am doing this correctly.
My 4x Great Grandfather, John Dempsey came to Australia as a convict aboard the Atlas in 1802, he was tried in Baltinglass or Naas depending what I am reading. I have been unable to unearth what exactly he was tried for. There is a suggestion that he was involved in the 1798 rebellion as he was tried with 5/8 others who were all sent to Australia on the Atlas. His indent papers dont give any information nor his musters or the Conditional Pardon. I have also tried the Irish Newspapers on My Heritage to no avail.
Does anyone out there have a suggestion as to where else I can look for these records.
