Title: Look up for Palmers in Berrow
Post by: palmerfamily on Sunday 11 June 17 12:01 BST (UK)
Could anyone help me... I'm trying to find the name of Mary's husband and father of Elizabeth, Edward and James..

Mary (unknown maiden name) born about 1801
Elizabeth Palmer (Betsy) born about 1828
Edward Palmer born about 1831
James Palmer born about 1834

1841 ref - H0107 Piece 933 Folio 10 Page 16 Book 1

if someone could help me narrow down the births so I can order the relevant certificates I'd be very grateful..

You will not get a certificate prior to the start of registration in 1837  ;)

One of the childrens marriage certificates should name their father, unless they were illegitimate  :-\

Thank you

To narrow down a marriage certificate would be wonderful., I was aware a birth certificate was unlikely... the children were not illegitimate ( to my knowledge )  I believe the father died due to Mary being listed as a widow on 1841 census..

I believe the father died due to Mary being listed as a widow on 1841 census..

Whilst in the case she does appear to have been married many unmarried women with children appear on census as widowed  ;D

Found the Marriage but didnt find the Burial, well done Cas
Good work Rosie.

1851 if I have the right she Mary is mistranscribed as age 58, image is 50, born Moorlinch
(William Palmer 1847 is a Visitor also with the Leaker Family)

Possible;
Mary WESTLAKE Baptised 23 March 1800, St Mary, Moorlinch
Parents JOHN/JOANNA
(FreeREG)

Have fun with this one;
MARRIAGE same Church, 21 April 1797 John WESTLAKE to Joanna WESTLAKE
Richd Westlake a Witness.

I often look on Familysearch.Org for people as they seem to be transribed properly there.

Eg;
Joanna Westlake   Head   F 75   Moorlinch, Somerset
John Westlake   Son   M 45   Puriton, Somerset

Anc has them as McPEAKE ::)
Image is clearly Westlake.

1841 in Puriton we have;
John Weslake, 65
Joannah Weslake, 65

FreeREG has Palmer Baptisms in Berrow in the right time-frame, no Frederic/k though.

AS he didnt live to make the 1841 Census it is hard to know if he was born Somerset or not.

A FREDERICK Palmer was a Witness to this Marriage;
CHARLES Palmer 1821 Brean (1851 Charles is born c 1797 Berrow)
