Marriage allegation May 1697 has Richard Dashwood of Corkley Clay  (Cockley Cley), Norfolk and Mary Jarratt of St Olave's

The marriage will only show abode of bride/groom which may not be where they were born.  ;)

There is a document on one of the sites which does suggest a link to the Dashwoods - quite a prominent family by searching G**gle.

Samuel Dashwood married Margaret Sweeting. Their son
George Dashwood married Margeret Perry.

They are the parents of Richard who married Mary Jarret.

Another son Sir Robert Dashwood married Penelope Chamberlayne

Hi Phil

I've checked on Anc* - the fathers name is Returne ( from the PR - not a transcript)

There are however lots of Mary Jarrett (and variants) between 1660-1680, but there is one in St Olave - which is where she was when she married.

Mary Garrett bapt. 10 March 1672 St Olave,  parents: Seath ( father) and Elizabeth. Father a butcher.

and a sibling Martha bapt. 8 Feb 1673, same church.

*****************************************

How sure are you on the sibling Richard ? ~ I can see a Richard Jarrett bapt. 4 May 1679
St Margaret Lothbury, London ~ son of Richard and Elizabeth. - but no other siblings.

*****************************************
There is also an Abraham & Elizabeth Jarrett that baptise children in the timeframe

Mary       bp. 28 Dec 1675     St Botolph, Aldgate, London
Hannah   bp. 17 Dec 1678      "            "            "
Abraham bp. 13 Jul 1673        "            "           "
Elizabeth bp. 17 Nov 1665  at St Mary, Whitechapel, Middlesex
Sarah     bp.   5 Apr 1668        "     "             "                "
John       bp.   2 Oct 1670        "     "             "                "

Hi

You mention Richard Jarrett

I am sure you mean Richard dashwood who married Mary Jarrett

I believe she had a brother born about 1670/75 called James ??/

Hi Phil

We can scrap all of the above - her father was called William Jarrott - there is a marriage settlement document dated 1697 which mentions her brother too.

http://www.ancestordocs.co.uk/london/

It should be on this page.

I'm also looking at some Wills - as that document suggests families of some wealth. Maybe find them that way - it's worded "William Jarrott, late of London" - possibly lived elsewhere or born elsewhere.

EDIT- have found the Will of a William Jarrott of London dated 1696. Wealthy family indeed. Mentions eldest son JAMES Jarrott, a daughter Eleanor Jarrott, youngest daughter MARY Jarrott , a married daughter Jane and a son George. Wife was an Eleanor Jarrott. This family had land/estates in Gloucestershire and Dorsetshire. Will check PRs to see if any dates match with what you have

Hi Phil

The Will found of William Jarrott, merchant of London and further Wills ( of George & James)  have proved this is the correct family.

There is a baptism for a Mary Jarrett daughter of Mr. William Jarrett, merchant 22 Feb. 1665 St Dionis Backchurch - I would think this is too early but cannot see another

Daughter Jane, can't find a baptism but married Sir Henry Peachey of Petworth, Sussex 16 May 1693 St. Dionis Backchurch, London

James JARRAT bapt. 16 Jan 1677 St Dionis Backchurch, London

George Jarratt bapt. 26 Dec 1680 St Dionis Backchurch, London    - the Will of father William does state both sons were still in their minority - so these I feel are correct.

I can't see baptisms for daughters Jane or Eleanor at St Dionis.

There are burials for a daughter Eleanor in 1664, a William 1776 and wife/mother Eleanor Jarret in 1696 at the same church

PARENTS: Think this is possibly their marriage:

William Jarrett married Ellen Choute 1 Sep 1663 St Mary Islington

Daughter Eleanor Jarrett married  19 Jun 1696 at St Dionis Backchurch to Sir Rushout Cullen  ~ she died in Norfolk in 1739 ~ her Will leaves bequests to nieces and nephews Dashwood.

She was a Dame also  ;)

Hi Phil

I can see no marriage for James Jarrett of Gloster Street, parish of St George the Martyr, and from his Will would suggest no marriage : his woollen clothes are left to his servant David Philips and the whole of his estate went to Richard and Mary Dashwood's children - Richard, Jarrett, James, Robert, Mary and Elizabeth Dashwood.

James Jarrett Esq. was buried 2 Jul 1728 in the Great Vault in the North Isle,  St Dionis Backchurch, London.

GEORGE Jarrett married Mercy Evans on 4 November 1708 at St James, Clerkenwell.

George and Mercy baptised a daughter Elianor Jarrett 7 Sep 1710 at St Mary Aldermary, London, although George Jarrett had died a few months prior to this.

Mr George Jarrett buried 15 Mar 1710 on the south side of the middle Isle under the pews N2 & N5 at St Dionis Backchurch.

His Will leaves small monetary bequests to the Dashwoods, his sisters Eleanor and Jane, his worldly estate to daughter Elianor and £100 to wife Mercy.

Just looking for some connection to a Stephen Jarrett born 1699 to 1725 that may possibly be connected to James ??

Hi Phil

There are quite a few records for a Stephen Jarrett about, a lack of baptisms though - although there is a baptism of a Steeven John Garrett on 28 Jul 1692-1693 at St Mary Magdalen, Richmond, Middlesex. Son of a Mr. Richard Garrett

Looking at the other baptisms in the register - the use of the 'Mr' would suggest a family of some status, as others are just 'Joe Blogs son of Joe Blogs' etc.

I can see a marriage on 13 Feb. 1726 at All Hallows London Wall, London of a Stephen Garrett to Mary Swain.

Not seeing a baptism of a 'Jarrett' :-\

Have you any other info or family members that might help find something a bit more concrete for you ?
