Need a bit of help looking for william and elizabeth christie in 1841 and1851 census got them in 1861 with surname christine inwhithorn my gr gr gran agnes age 18 here but after 1861 name was always christie been on sp but no luck love this site as helps so many  claycrop

The family are listed on the 1851 Census at Isle Row, Whithorn
The surname is transcribed on www.freecen.org.uk as Christen.

William Christen   26   Head    Agricultural Labourer      born Sorbie, Wigtownshire
Elisabeth Christen 27   Wife                                          born Ireland
Agness Christen     8    Dau      Scholar                         born Mochrum, Wigtownshire
Cattren Christen     4    Dau     Scholar                          "         "                 "
John Christen       14days   Son                                    born Whithorn
Sarah Cown       24   Sister-in-law -married    Agricultural Labourer        born Ireland
Mary Cown         8mths  Niece                                      born Mochrum, Wigtownshire.

All above spellings are as the transcriptions on Freecen. I would consider that Elisabeth and Sarah could  be sisters.

Hi,

1841 FreeCen has a William Christen age 18 Mochrum , born Wigtownshire , with a Hartley family.

Do you have Elizabeth Christie's maiden surname ?

Hi EV only thing I have on Elizabeth is her surname is COOK or williamson on my grgr gran her mother is COOK while on elizabeths death cert it is williamson I will try checking out william christen 1841 thank you claycrop

FreeCEN has an Elizabeth Williamson age 15(age rounded down ?) , born Ireland , living Wigtown , Wigtownshire.
