Post by: macken_h on Tuesday 13 June 17 23:35 BST (UK)
Hi,
My french is long forgotten and I'm hoping that someone is able to translate the contents of a birth certificate I recently obtained from France.
Certificate is attached.
Many thanks in anticipation,
Hilary

Here is what I could translate for you.

Georgina O' Reilly born at 1am 12th September 1823. Daughter of John O' Reilly officer of the royal navy stationed in Dieppe at rue en quaire  he is born in London and Anne Suarr not sure of the surname born in County Meath. She has  been living in London.  I could not make out the place name where the mother is from  Bell something.  There are two witnesses mentioned Simeon Morel 26 a surgeon of rue Ecosse and William Peresseu aged more than 50. The father signs the certificate to confirm the details.

Regards

sarah

I think Anne's surname is SUART - same T as at the end of "vingt" and that the second witness is William BREWER  - same R as at the end of "soir".

Instead of "près Labourde" I think it says "près la bourse" (next to the stock exchange).

Yes you are correct it is SUART. John & Anne are my 4th great grandparents.
I was hoping that there would be more details as to her actual place of birth rather than London.
Thanks for all you help,
Regards,
Hilary
