Title: changing user name,
Post by: Shar10 on Thursday 15 June 17 12:17 BST (UK)
Hi can somebody please tell me how to change my user name the one I have wasn't meant to be a user name it was meant to be a password but I was getting confused when a few were not accepted due to duplicating or length. I would like to use my own name , thank you .

Hi,

Unfortunately I think that's one thing we cannot change. It is best not to use your full name in case of identity fraud.

Test
Just added the 1 to mine in Profile - Modify Profile - Account Settings

I'm adding to this as I play with it so may repeat some of Ruskie's post below.

From what I can see this is just changing the display name, my username is still without the 1.

Yes, you can change your name. Many of us have done so.

I am not sure if it is still this way, but you used to have to contact admin and they would do this for you. When you log in you still need to enter the name and password you registered with, but your new name will appear on the forum.

You can use your real name if you wish - some people elect to do this. A lot of people use variations or initials as you wish to do.

I will try to find out the correct procedure and let you know.  :)

Couldn't get much simpler than that Sinann.  :)

If you still need help with this, use the 'report to moderator' button and one of the site administrators should contact you by personal message to discuss it with you.

So to clarify you can change your name but not your username.

Just a query re change of user name as Sinann did. Does that mean you can change your username as often as you want? If you change your user name, does that change on all your previous posts as well, as that could be very confusing?

I didn't change my username just the name displayed but yes it changed on all my posts.

The profile name and display name can be different but this is best avoided unless you can remember them both.
