Title: Catalogue records for Victorian CDV photographers
Post by: Kendra71 on Friday 16 June 17 14:42 BST (UK)
I think I know the answer to this, but I'll try my luck anyway... Is it really the case that Victorian photographers records haven't generally survived? I have quite a few cabinet photos and cartes de visite which I would love to identify. As well as the studio name (mostly in & around Chester), more than half have the catalogue number in pencil on the back to allow for reprints. It is frustrating to have this catalogue information but not to be able to do anything with it. Is that just how things are?
