I am helping a friend do some family history research and her great grandfather's brother was mentioned for bravery during World War One.
His name was Thomas James Proctor/Procter and he died of wounds on 11 June 1917, buried at Boulogne. His military file states in an entry dated 18 June 1917 that he was mentioned for bravery.
I assume this means that he was mentioned in despatches. I looked at the AWM website re mentioned in despatches and it says there was usually a notice placed in the London Gazette. However, I can't find any notice for Thomas. Can anyone help? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I see from his WW1 records that the mention for Bravery was at the Brigade level and not the Battalion level, the 35th Battalion was part of the 9th Brigade. The Brigade War Diaries are available to be downloaded on the Australian War Memorial site.
If you do decide to have a look at the diary then find WW1, then Infantry AWM4 Class 23 then onto the 9th Infantry Brigade, then download June 1917.

These Brigade Diaries can be a bit overwhelming compared to a Battalion ones and take a lot of reading and in the end there might be nothing there about the Bravery mention, be good if there is though.
