Title: Cousin Eric H
Post by: Vabre on Saturday 24 June 17 06:01 BST (UK)
I am trying to find my cousin Eric H who was supposed to be born in x, father David but known as George Hines, mother unknown,he supposedly married a Judy? in New South Wales, I think Sydney. Eric in the 1930s lived with my grandmother Mary Genge Stoker and John Edward Stoker in Kogarah, I cannot find either his correct date of birth, his mother's name or his wife's maiden name, I have looked at N.S.W. BDMs without any luck.
Any help appreciated.

NSW BDM online index is for birth registrations that occurred at least 100 years ago.   You have your person of interest as born 1919, so not yet 100 years of age.   Can you confirm that you already know he is deceased?   It is a No No to name living people or people we may suspect are still living at RChat.  You should modify your post to remove his name if you cannot confirm he is deceased.

Thank you Muss however this is not my Eric.

Majm,
I fully realise what you have said which I appreciate. However as he was born in x (x years ago) I doubt if he is now alive. He vanished from the family some 70 years ago never to be heard of by me again. Thank you for your help.

I'm assuming his parents were David George HINES and Margaret STOKER who married in Tamworth in 1918 (1447/1918)? They filed for a divorce in 1924:
http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article166265211

(Added: quite a few other reports on Trove too, some of which mention that Margaret left her husband and went to live with her parents in Kogarah:
http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article236554991)

No mention of children, and as majm says birth registrations won't be indexed until 100 years have passed.

I think you should be careful as I know plenty of people over 98 years old!  ;)

Perhaps you will see here the death of a man whom you say is not your chap?

Thank you Muss however this is not my ****.

Despite the correct birth year?

Well, I think there is in this one. Relationship is not quite stated.

Thank you Sue,

Very interesting, as Margaret Genge Hines was my aunty, now long deceased, and the fact that she was divorced was a subject in the family which was banned for discussion.

Hi there,     there's about four thousand living Australians aged over 100 years, and likely tens of thousands aged ninety or more.   Just like you and me and all of us living in Australia we are each entitled to the expectation of privacy of the individual.     One of the many positive features about RChat is that threads are easily found via google searching.    I am sorry that you have not heard of your cousin for some 70 years.    I have used the Report to Moderator button to ask for a volunteer Moderator to remove your cousin's name from the thread, as you have not confirmed that he is no longer living.

Here's the "How To" thread that may help you to advance your quest :

Thank you Muss however this is not my ******.

So could you kindly let us know please.
Is the man or is it not?
Your replies at the moment are somewhat self-contradictory.
Do you believe the death I have located and directed you to (above) is the cousin you are seeking?
Do you believe the other records offered are the cousin you are seeking?

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/page/1162885  This lists the given names for the siblings of the chap who was aged 22 when he died in 1931, so born 1909.

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/16781799 This is the funeral notice for the chap noted above, a Naval funeral.

It does not seem to me that this chap is the one our OP is seeking as there's a huge age difference, and the NSW BDM index shows different given names for the deceased's parents.

 ;)

The chap I have made mention of died in Qld in 1989.

This has not been confirmed or otherwise by Vabre as a possibility.

From NSW BDM online indexes only,  the couple (Mary and John) at Kogarah in the NSW electoral roll entries of the 1930s (OP's Aunt)  were likely the couple who were married back in 1897 at Lismore, and still together until John's 1945 death, and so are not the couple marrying in 1918 and divorcing in 1924 that have been mentioned in posts on this thread.

 # 414/1897 STOKER John E and WILLIAMS Mary G   ;D

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/17949423 SMH 10 Aug 1945.  Details there of John and Mary's adult children.

No, their daughter.
The news items are quite clear and the place of residence of the lost cousin in the 1930'sEDIT 1941  is also clear from other records.
But, the good news it that John, our OP is happy to finish things off now and has found all he needs for the present time.
