Looks like Joseph Evan Tyrrell is a man of some mystery.
He's in the 1881 census as a lodger in Devizes: Joseph E Tirrell, brewer's traveller. Can't find him before 1881 at first pass.

His 1929 Death Cert doesn't help much either - no parents names:
Joseph F? L? E? TYRRELL
Died 11 Oct 1929, aged 71 yrs, 6mths & 24 days
DoB 17 Mar 1859, born England
Married - wife Mary TYRRELL
Occupation: Salesman
Parents names: Not recorded
Informant: Mary TYRRELL of 515, North 41st St.
His middle initial, as written on the certificate may be a badly formed E, has been transcribed as an L, and looks a bit like an F to me.

Joseph visited England in 1922, and returned to NYC on the Olympic in October.
The passport application names his father as James Tyrrell.
Date of birth 17 March 1859.

Nope ;D, they immigrated under the name of GLOVER in 1890.
They married 9 years later in 1899.
And on the 1900 US Census the year after they married, they said they'd been married 12 years....
This all points to something they are trying to avoid or evade. A first wife, perhaps - or husband?

Parents listed on marriage:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:24ZN-77J
Theodosia NEWMAN didn't marry James TYRRELL until 1862 so I think Joseph must be the Joseph Evan NEWMAN born Mar Qtr 1858 Pewsey.
He's with his grandmother Ann Newman in 1861 as Evan NEWMAN.

He was indeed ;D 8)
His mother and husband James TYRELL and their issue did end up in Harrow by the looks of it - Census 1871 (RG10 / Piece 1324 / Folio 107 / Pg37) and Baptisms of some of their children. She died 1871 in Harrow, Theodosia TYRRELL age 32.
And in 1861, Theodosia NEWMAN is in Surrey, visiting a Thomas TYRRELL (36) and family
RG 9/ Piece 364 /Folio: 59 /pg1
