Title: James Forsyth (e ) Eyemouth
Post by: BillyF on Saturday 24 June 17 19:25 BST (UK)
James Forsyth(e) married Suffy/Sophia  Grieve on 29th February 1794 at Eyemouth. They last appear on the 1841 Census, age 70 residence High Street Eyemouth.

I cannot find anything for either of them after this; I`ve trawled Family Search and SP - nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
it looks fairly safe to assume that they died between 1841 and 1851 but sadly many Scottish parishes seem to have thought it unnecessary to record deaths, and civil registration did not begin until 1855. Other family members appear in subsequent censuses and in the 1866 Southern Counties Register, apparently thriving in business in Eyemouth, so probably the best you can hope for is an MI.
Regards,
Lesley

Thanks for your efforts, my thoughts are the same !

I checked MIs when I visited Scotland last year. There is one for their daughter Jean who died aged 11 months in 1796; I also found a listing that just said James Forsyth, but no other details.

The 1841 Census says both James and Sophia were born in Berwickshire, I don`t know anything, so far, about them before their marriage. Their daughter Christian is my 3 x gt grandmother.
