Hello
I'm pulling my hair out trying to find my Grandmother on the 1939 register.
On the Electoral register for Lewisham, London in Oct 1939.
They are down as living in 50 Granville Park Lewisham.S E13
Her name is Monica Isabel Lorraine Marchant, Born 5th Sept 1916. She was a serving officer in the ATS at the time.
She died in 1988.
I've also tried searching for her then husband, Roland McAlpin Marchant, Born 1908, he has also died.
I have looked all through Granville park road, and nothing!
I hope someone can help
Your help and time are greatly appreciated
Thank you

Service personnel were listed in a separate register.
From the National Archives:

Sorry but the terms & conditions of the 1939 register findmypast site prohibit us from looking up for other people. Try nannyjan's suggestion....

Thank you both, where is this separate register for service personnel please?
-
Sorry don't know; maybe email the National Archives and ask if they know. :-\

If you look at the link from nanny jan's first post note 2.2 explains all.

Thanks. So she may well have been on leave and be on the register.
So you can look and find the people I'm looking for on the register, but you're not aloud to tell me if you've found them, is that right?

We are only allowed to give what information can be gleaned from a free search of the register. We are not allowed to give any information which only appears on the register but not on a free search.
Using the free search I can't yet see them either, so can only assume they were on the forces register

Have you thought about sending for a copy of your grandmother's service record? That might solve the puzzle.
