Hi - I am looking for information about Captain George Pike Cozens, he was my GG granddad and was married to Emma Florinda Trodd. As far as we know he was captain of the Florinda sailing yawl, we have a teapot and cutlery from the boat. But what came first - was the Florinda named after Emma? they also named one of their daughters Florinda, the boat was built in 1873 and Flo was born in 1874 so was she named after the boat?
The Florinda was owned by William Jessop so who named the boat? I know that also Dan Cozens raced the Florinda, were they brothers?
Grateful if anyone can help me shed some light on this conundrum please.
Thank you

Have you looked for George and Dan on the 1871/1881 censuses to establish their respective birthyears and birthplaces?

As mentioned above - nothing to indicate Emma senior had a middle name
I have asked the moderator to move your post to the Hampshire board

Welcome to Rootschat :)
My gt grandmother was Emma TRODD's (born 1839) sister.
There is long thread about the family on another forum

Hi - Sorry, I am looking at George Pike Cozens born 1836 and his wife Emma, I think I saw mentioned somewhere on Ancestry that she had a middle name but cant be certain.
There are so many Cozens family and I think Daniel may have been a cousin born in 1844.
We have cutlery and a teapot from the Florinda - I think other descendants also have artifacts from her. Would be interested to know who and what they have.
Thanks
