Title: Steels Engineering, Pallion
Post by: Mofamily on Friday 30 June 17 19:19 BST (UK)
Hi there.  Can anybody help.

My mam worked at Steels in the 40s  in the offices.  We are looking for some photographs of that time.  I've looked on the internet, but nothing.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Is this what you are looking for? Aerial view of the factory of Steel & Co. Ltd and the shipyard of Short Brothers, Pallion, Sunderland, May 1950 https://co-curate.ncl.ac.uk/resources/view/43073/ and https://www.flickr.com/photos/twm_news/19969057841/

Cheers Stan, but me mam was thinking more of images of old friends and a snapshot of the surroundings of the office blocks and the time offices, canteen, cranes leaving, battery shop, Mrs Potts who was the nurse on site, etc, etc, etc!!!!!

Thanks though, great picture.

Bit late to the party, but it might be worth asking Sunderland antiquarians?  Or searching the Echo archives?

Thanks Stan.

Another great picture.  Mam recognises the old part of the building.  Brought back loads of memories.
The newer part was obviously built after they left.  Both Mam and Dad worked (and met in the Social Club) in the late 40's early 50's.

Thanks again.  Brilliant! (as always).
