Don't know whether anyone can help without me applying for birth certificates.
I am looking for Nora Patricia Gough who was first married in June 1940 in Liverpool to Maurice Ramsey Kenny vol 8b p294.
Nora then married Matthew Pye in Bourne Lincolnshire in 1956 vol 3b p200
I am trying to find out where and when Nora was born. Her name may have been Norah. Does anyone have any suggestions or information.
Thanks
Gill

Hello,
Did she die in Kingston upon Thames in 1990? That death gives a birth year of 1918.
My suggestion would be to purchase a marriage certificate for her father's name.

Hi Heywood..
Yes she did die in 1990 in Kingston so that takes me one step further. I do think she was born in Liverpool but thank you both for replying.

There is no Nora Patricia Gough born in England for that period of 1918 - where did you get the surname Gough ?? could she have married a Gough before she married Maurice ??
very strange - Maurice R Kenny b 1916 Liverpool mmn Williams - is there
but no Nora Patricia Gough ....
marriage was in Liverpool North - do you have a church name for the marriage in North Liverpool?
did Maurice also re marry in 1956 to Olive Palmer in West Bromwich
-
did she have a son and a daughter born in Liverpool
-
Hi LancsAnn
Yes a daughter Barbara and son David....any luck?
Thanks

So their birth registrations confirm that the mothers maiden name was Gough
-
Perhaps a wild suggestion;Could she be an adoptee?
Regards
William Russell Jones.

If she was married twice, there are two marriage certificates which hopefully would give her father's name and occupation. It would be worth a try.

Hi heywood
We have applied for marriage certificates. We are hoping it will show her father's name and confirm her age.
Thanks

Do let us know when you have them

Good luck Gill. I hope you get some useful information. It is better than guessing :)
-
Hi heywood
There is a possibility that she may have been adopted or brought up by someone else and taken their name....unfortunately no part of that family exist to look in to this. Hoping the marriage certificate will push us forward

Hi
We have a marriage certificate which states that she was married at Liverpool south registry office. However it only gives the names of the witnesses as JI Ashton and AL Kenny also that she was 24 in 1940, confirming date of birth at 1916 on 1939 register.
thanks

Hello Gill,
Presumably no father’s name?
Heywood
-
Unfirtunately not. I think she must have been adopted. Is there anywhere that you can trace adoption records when you haven’t got much to go on..
Regards
Gill
-
there were no official adoption records until 1927, before that it would be by informal agreement or via a solicitor
-
Thank you for that information. Maybe someday I will crack the puzzle.
