Title: Miller in Haverhill (1768)
Post by: windy_miller on Wednesday 05 July 17 23:12 BST (UK)
HI,

I was wondering if anyone has easy access to the Newspaper Archive.  I'm looking for the name of a miller who was selling his mill in August 1768.  I believe it was for sale at the Queen's Head (Inn?) in Haverhill.

I would be grateful if someone could tell me his name! ;D

Cheers,
Windy Miller

Looks to be HENRY FINCH to me :)

The letter 'n' is missing from the print, but I'd hazard a guess at Finch

Seems there was a milling family called Fincham a little later...may be that them?

I'm not getting any hits for Fincham in the newspapers at all.

Are we still looking in Haverhill ? There is one marriage and burial of a John Fincham but later in the 1790's

I can also see a marriage of a Henry Fincham in 1742 in Bury St Edmunds, St Mary.

But the newspaper does say Finch.
