From Maidstone Gazette and Kentish Chronicle Tuesday 10 January1832.
"The Rochester Epiphany Quarter Session was held at the Guildhall, on Saturday last, before the Mayor, Recorder, and other Civic Officers. The only case that came before the Court was the trial of a lad, named Chifley, who was charged with stealing a gun, value 20s., the property of William Eastdown residing at Higham, near Rochester. The prisoner was found guiltv of the offence; and sentenced to seven years transportation"
