I wonder if someone could look for a Rose obit please?
Iam trying to trace a Harold Elson Rose born abt 1907 USA. He married a Marjorie Tooley(1904-49) in 1925 Toronto and then I loose him. He had a son Murray Elson Rose who died 1 Sep 1985 Missassauga. I am hoping that there is an obit for Murray and that it mentions his father Harold.

Marjorie was buried Thornhill Community Cemetery - have you checked to see if Harold is also buried there ?

Hi,
Murray's obit is in the Toronto Star, Sept 3 1985, page F8. It doesn't mention his father :'(. It says he is the husband of E, father of R and his wife K, D and his wife M, S (Mrs W Hay), H and his wife B, and E. Grandfather of C and A. Brother of Earl. Interment Glendale Memorial Gardens.

Electoral District of Broadview City of Toronto....
1958 shows an Elson and Mrs Katherine Rose at 274 Jones Ave
By 1965 and 1968 there is only Katherine at this address.
Elson is an unusual name and he was known by this in the 1921 census, so I wonder if this Elson is your Harold? If so, these records indicate he may have married again and perhaps give an indication of when he may have passed away.

Did Earl died in Keswick in 1983 - in 73rd year? If so, I looked at his obit. It doesn't mention Harold either

Brother of Martin?? He does not show up in any census. Parents married in 1903 and Harold Elson only child shown in any census.

If Martin doesn't fit, and there is no mention of Murray or Earl in either Elson or Katherine's obits - perhaps this Elson and Katherine are not yours??

Parents of my Harold Elson are Thomas Alexander Rose and Minnie Welch. Elson is such an unusual name.

Looks like Thomas and Minnie had a second son Murray Dalton Seeley Rose b. 27 Oct 1912. Sadly, he passed away 05 Sep 1913 at the age of 10 months.
Elson and Katherine are certainly a bit of a conundrum. From RK's transcription, the obit for Elson apparently says son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Rose; it apparently doesn't say the "late" Mr and Mrs which suggests the parents are still alive. From findagrave, it looks like Thomas died in 1969 and Minnie in 1974. I wonder if their obits might reveal anything?

Minnie Rose's obit is in the Toronto Star on Sept 14, 1974. She died Sept 13. Wife of the late Thomas Rose. Mother of Arthur of Durham and the late Elson Rose. Survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Interment Hagerman Cemetery

Wow! Great finds RK and *Sandra*.
There were no formal addresses listed but in the 1968 Electoral List Thomas, Minnie, and an Arthur are listed at RR1 Unionville. Perhaps Arthur stayed with Thomas and Minnie when he went to Toronto for work, assuming this is the same Arthur.

Murray is my grandfather. I believe his dad Harold walked out on the family but I have just started my search.
