Would anyone have any idea when irishgenealogy.ie will be releasing another tranche of records?
I am waiting for the June 1917 birth records for Mullingar.
Thanks
Lisa

It could be a while as the 1916 Births are still not available. I believe they are strictly enforcing the 100 year limit for Births due to a privacy concern that was raised in the Irish Parliament - if this is the case it might be 2019 at the earliest before the 1917 births are released.

Thank you. Ancestry have a reference for the person of interest, so I think I will just have to buy a research copy and see.

Hi - just reviving this thread as the irishgenealogy.ie website confuses me. Can someone explain to me what is on it and what is not on it. For example when I trace my family I can find a lot of birth registrations and marriage registrations scanned in and viewable from the 1910's, 1920's and even 1930's
Yet there are some people I know off that are not showing up at all.
Then there are records that the ancestry.com website has a transcript for that dont show up at all on irish genealogy website.
So I am finding it difficult to figure out, does anyone have data on what is in that website and what is not??

There are 2 parts to Irish Genealogy site-
1) church records- https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/church-records/about/what-church-records-are-available-online
and
2) civil records (births, marriages, deaths)- https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/civil-records/help/what-civil-records-are-on-line
Remember that events recorded in Northern Ireland counties (Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry, Tyrone) have a cut-off point of 1921. For later N.I. records you'll need to search on GRONI's site (pay per view).
If you are unable to find particular records that you think should be listed it may be that a name has been mis-transcribed, Christian name listed as 'unknown' or in the case of names beginning wth Mc/Mac and O' you'll need to search differently

You just need to read

Link to explanations of
What are the Civil Records
What Civil Records are on-line
What information is on the Indexes that are on-line
I want to get a copy of a certificate, what do I do

To look for people on Civil Reg you need to search by DISTRICT.
If you know county then
https://www.swilson.info/regdistmap.php
and select county to get the DISTRICTS and then use their local one as district!
Then Search https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp !

Thanks for your help.
So given there is a 100 years rule, when would we expect 1917/1918 births to be uploaded?
-
About 2021
-
1917 was meant to be this November but recent news says there is a delay, may not be until next year.
The earlier marriages and deaths should get their images at the same time.

Is there any reason some people would be missing from the births even though they are born prior to 1916? For example, i am tracking the following family in Bailieboro..
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Cavan/Bailieboro/Corraghy/1053219/
I cannot locate the births of Mary and John (sarah is there, James is there but the scanned in image is an error and is from Tyrone not Cavan - which i reported)
I am pretty certain that the family stayed in bailieboro as the mothers death is there too in Bailieboro. I have tried a search under every conceivable spelling of Corkin (the family are actually Corcorans but ive seen the spelling about 10 different ways)
Is there any reason that it would not be there, errors/lost documents etc? Is it common to have people missing?

Yes many weren't registered!

Lads - thanks for that, in 2 mins flat. Not sure why I am so thick I didnt find John but Mary spelling of surname certainly not one I thought off. As a matter of interest, how did you search the website to find that surname?
I've also a michael Corcoran (corkin), mother Maggie Jane I'm looking for in 1915 or so also in Bailieboro.
-
Hi, I looked in the Irish birth index on findmypast
https://search.findmypast.co.uk/search-world-Records/irish-births-1864-1958
Couldn't see John on irishgenealogy, so found someone else born in Dec qtr 1897, Bailieboro, and worked through the images. Did they miss him?
John

Just look for Michael Born 1912 to 1912 and District
...then just scroll though them until you see one with the Surname!!

Cheers,
Thats what I thought I was doing but maybe I am doing something stupid...
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-perform-search.jsp?namefm=michael&namel=&location=Bailieborough&yyfrom=1912&yyto=1912&type=B&submit=Search&sort=&pageSize=100¢ury=&decade=&exact=&ddBfrom=&ddMfrom=&ddDfrom=&ddPfrom=&mmBfrom=&mmMfrom=&mmDfrom=&mmPfrom=&yyBfrom=&yyMfrom=&yyDfrom=&yyPfrom=&ddBto=&ddMto=&ddDto=&ddPto=&mmBto=&mmMto=&mmDto=&mmPto=&yyBto=&yyMto=&yyDto=&yyPto=&locationB=&locationM=&locationD=&locationP=&keywordb=&keywordm=&keywordd=&keywordp=&event=&district=
Above is my search, Michael 1912-1912 in Bailieborough. I only get 8 replies (which seems very low) and none of them are the one I am looking for.

Sorry, trying to understand this. So I get the jist of what you are saying, find someone at the end of 1897. Get into the images and scroll back through the records like you are reading a book. My question is where can you do this? On irish genealogy when you click on "image" on a record it only give you a pdf of 1 page. I'd be really interested to access the records as you describe. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Shane gives an explanation of doing it here
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=462684.msg3587385#msg3587385
Works for the BMD registers. You may possibly find some gaps in the numbers that work.

Ahhh
That's a really useful tip. Thanks a million.

Shane has since made a browse images tool for several site including Irish Genealogy
https://www.swilson.info/wp/?p=2105
It missed those images where there are more than one set on the one link but other wise is great.

Thats really useful, thanks.
