i know my great grandparents are buried at this church but I cant find the graves - some research say they have been built over but I find this strange as I would have thought the remains of the people would have been interned elsewhere - but I cant seem to find where. Any ideas anyone

Hi Marie
Many churchyards have been turned into gardens, worse still car parks.
The residents unfortunately are not always relocated.
Have you contacted the church or parish council to see if they have a burial plan for the churchyard?

Back to your great grandparents, you don't mention when they were buried. Having a headstone might not have been within the family's budget. Do you know if they had a headstone?

Someone once mentioned that St Thomas' burials were near where Hewitt Avenue now is and I've located this Old Map which does show a burial ground call St Thomas. A bit of a distance from the Church. Maybe someone more savy with maps could find something better than this. Hope you can view it (zoom out a bit)

Thanks people. I dont think they would have afforded a headstone. They were either buried in the church graveyard or the one in Hewitt Avenue. I will take a look at both when I visit.
