Title: Elizabeth M A Vickers
Post by: Matt Wilson on Sunday 09 July 17 21:40 BST (UK)
Hi guys,I recently rejoined ancestry after coming across another family riddle but have been unable to crack it. My great granddad Robert purvis of Wolverhampton remarried to Elizabeth m a Vickers in 1944 after the death of his first wife Sophia, but though I know Elizabeth died in 1962 I cannot find  any info of her previous, her father  is recorded as Richard Wilkinson on her marriage cert and she was 62 - a widow - in 1944 but I'd greatly appreciate if an expert can point me in the right direction of where she was born and when etc.

I've found her on the 1939 free search (have no sub to check details) In Wolverhampton. No middle names, sorry. Birth given as 1882.

Also on the record is a William Vickers b 1875, who dies in 1941. No guarantee this is her husband, though as I can;t find a matching marriage. She could of course have been married previously before she became Mrs Vickers, given WWI, Spanish flu etc.

Hi possibly look at the marriage of Elizabeth M* A* SUTHERLAND to William Vickers 1917 Aston?
Possibly a second marriage?

An Elizabeth Mary A Wilkinson married possibly a Walter Eldred Sutherland March qtr 1902 Hackney?

Thanks so much, it makes things tricky when ancestors start adding or leaving out middle names when they like.

I don't think she has added or missed out any middle names, has she?

So - 1901 Walter is widowed, and listed as b walthamstow, althuogh registers suggest he actually came from Hull and his middle name was also spelled Hildred.

There are two obvious children b West Ham, Elizabeth May in 1903 and Sarah Louisa in 1904

Can't find the family in 1911 or any suggestion of what happened to Walter. Wonder if they went overseas for a while
