Title: BEAN family in WHITBY

Please help me locate info on James BEAN and his wife Elizabeth whose son John was baptised in Whitby parish church on 1 Sep 1771. The baby is noted as having been born on 7 Jul 1771. (There is also an entry in the parish register for 17 Jan 1620/21 recording the birth of John BEANE (sic) son of Bartholomew, but if there are any intervening links I can't find them - were they related?

Don't worry, you haven't done anything wrong, just posted in the wrong section. As Whitby is Yorkshire you are more likely to get help from people who look at that area as they either know the area or have resources that cover the area. Takes a bit of time to get the hang of it, but there are plenty of people here who will help.

Thanks for that - I confess that I found it a bit confusing.

I wonder if a step-by-step "How to" for starters to follow whilst they find their feet might help we novices - and save you, your colleagues and your helpful expert members a lot of time!
